Xiegu's new X6100 is an ultra-portable HF & 50 MHz (6 m) SDR transceiver with a large 100 mm (4") full colour display and an internal 3000 mAh rechargeable battery for portable use. RF output is 10 W maximum when running on external power, 5 W maximum using the internal battery.

The X6100 boasts an inbuilt ATU that can match antennas up to an SWR of 1:5. The colour display incorporates a spectrum/waterfall display, and all operating information required is clearly presented.

A 13.8 V regulated DC power supply capable of delivering at least 3A continuous (not included) is recommended for charging and external power.

The compact size, light weight and internal battery of the X6100 will endear it to portable operators. Another useful feature is the pair of flip-out legs, allowing the rig to be positioned at an ideal operating angle. An adjustable digital noise reduction system and noise blanker help to combat unwanted interference, and an adjustable digital filter with three presets is also part of the package.

The X6100 has an inbuilt high stability 1 ppm TCXO, an SWR scanning facility and an internal modem for data communications. Connectivity options include traditional ports, USB type C, and WiFi and Bluetooth to allow for wireless audio, keyboards and mice. A micro-SD card slot is provided for firmware updates (a card is not included, we recommend using one of 16GB capacity).

In addition to voice modes (AM, NFM, LSB & USB), the X6100 can also be operated on CW. It has a built in keyer and the facility to store short CW messages.

The housing of the X6100 is a sturdy but lightweight aluminium extrusion, which incorporates a heatsink. It measures only 180 x 86 x 49 mm and weighs just 985 g including microphone.
